Description
This is Accurate Miniatures 1/48 TBF-1C in markings from VT-10 of
the USS Enterprise (CV-6). This particular aircraft took part in the
Truk Lagoon raid on 16 February 1944.
As with most AM kits this one was beautifully detailed and went
together nearly flawlessly. No filling was needed, just a little
sanding of the seams after assembly.
I added a scratch built .50 cal installation to the port wing and
opened a maintenance panel for the engine. The kit engine did not
have any detailing on the rear so I substituted a Teknics one in
it's place. Some detailing was also done in the cockpit and radio
compartment.
Model Master II enamels throughout were used in the finishing of
the kit. The forward cockpits of Grumman Avengers were painted
"bronze green" instead of the more common "interior green" so I
mixed several enamels to simulate that color. I also used the decals
provided in the kit. They were as good as any aftermarket set
available so why not use them?
