Description

This is my 1/48 Italeri MH-60 'Pave Hawk' converted back to a S-70A Blackhawk of the Australian Army's 5th Aviation Regiment. The aircraft depicted is A25-208, one of a number of Australian Blackhawks that served in Timor in 2000 with the UN deployment group.

The whole kit has been enhanced/modified in one way or another.

The cockpit has been enhanced with the Eduard ZOOM 'Pave Hawk' cockpit set and some scratch building. The roof of the main cabin area has been totally re done with plastic card and styrene. The two gunner's seats have been modified as have the wheel covers and other bulk heads. The two 20mm machine guns are resin and the mounts modified from the kit parts. The main rotor head was taken from an old Blackhawk kit and adapted to fit this kit. De-icing cables were also added to the main and tail rotors for extra detail. External aerials, lights and tie down points were scratch built using sprue or fine guage jewellery wire. The FOD pads in the intakes were made from Milliput and the Remove Before Flight tags were made from strips of red plastic bag. The pitot covers are made from Tamiya tape.

Paints were Model Master Medium Green, Tan and Matt Black.
